In Edison NJ stands the 131-foot tall Thomas Edison Memorial Tower. It sits on the site of Thomas Edison's famous Menlo Park research lab -- the first research lab in the world. It is also falling apart. The tower is visibly cracked and flaking, and it is walled off by a chainlink fence (possibly from fear that chunks of concrete will fall on visitors). It is a grand-looking art deco structure, if only it could be restored. Apparently there is a group looking to do just that, but while they have some nice drawings, it's not clear if they have any money or a schedule. Here's their website: http://www.menloparkmuseum.org/.
